Singapore companies obtain ISO 27001 certification from SAC-accredited certification bodies. Build an ISMS, run an internal audit and management review, pass Stage 1 and Stage 2, then run annual surveillance and recertify every three years. Fees are quote-based.
LowerPlane serves startups in the United States, Singapore, India and worldwide.
Certification is granted by third-party CBs accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council. Request quotes from 2–3 CBs; the SAC directory is the authoritative starting point. Fees are quote-based — scope, headcount, number of sites and complexity drive the final number.
A rough timeline for a 10–50 person SaaS with modern cloud infrastructure already in place.
One product + one cloud account is faster than three products across multiple regions.
CB audit effort scales with people and locations.
$4,995–$15,000/yr compliance platform replaces most consultant hours.
Not strictly required by ISO, but most CBs expect an annual internal + external pen test.
EnterpriseSG’s EDGE Grant (effective 30 Sep 2026) can cover eligible standards and certification activities for Singapore SMEs — up to 70%, capped at S$100,000 per year, ≥30% local ownership, reimbursement. See Singapore cybersecurity grants.
Running ISO 27001 + Cyber Trust yields ~70% overlap; many SG teams schedule both audits within a quarter. ISO 27001 + SOC 2 Security yields ~80%, with the deltas being the Statement of Applicability (ISO) and Trust Services Criteria mapping (SOC 2).
Certification bodies accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC). SAC maintains a published directory. A certificate from a SAC-accredited CB carries full international ISO 27001 recognition.
A typical first certification runs 4–6 months end-to-end for a 10–50 person SaaS: 4–8 weeks of ISMS build and gap closure, Stage 1 audit (documentation review), gap remediation, Stage 2 audit (operating effectiveness). Pre-existing SOC 2 controls shorten the build substantially.
EnterpriseSG's EDGE Grant covers eligible activities for Singapore SMEs. Standards certification can qualify under relevant activity codes; eligibility and current scope should be reconfirmed at the EDGE Grant page before applying.
Yes. ISO 27001 certificates from accredited CBs anywhere in the world are internationally recognised. SG buyers accept certificates from any IAF-recognised accreditation body. SAC-accredited CBs are the local default; teams occasionally pick an overseas CB when the engagement model or pricing is better.
No — different firms are required. ISO 27001 is issued by an accredited CB; SOC 2 is issued by an AICPA-licensed CPA firm. A few global firms operate both practices under one brand, but the engagements are legally separate.
The standard does not strictly mandate pen testing, but Annex A.8.8 (technical vulnerability management) requires regular testing, and most CBs expect an annual internal + external pen test plus retesting after significant change. Budget S$8,000–S$20,000 depending on scope.
A 10–50 person SaaS typically runs the ISMS with a part-time security lead or compliance owner plus the engineering lead. Add a part-time DPO for PDPA alignment. External support (readiness platform, dedicated advisor, independent pen-test firm) covers what the in-house team cannot.
LowerPlane maps ISO 27001 Annex A to SOC 2 TSC and Cyber Trust tiers so one evidence pack covers all three.
