SOC 2 Type 1
A SOC 2 report on the design of controls at a specific point in time.
A Type 1 SOC 2 report confirms that controls are suitably designed to meet the Trust Services Criteria as of a specific date. It is faster and cheaper to obtain than Type 2 but less valued by enterprise buyers because it does not test operating effectiveness. Useful as a milestone to unblock deals while a Type 2 observation window runs.
