Data Protection Officer (DPO)
An appointed privacy specialist responsible for monitoring GDPR / PDPA / DPDP compliance.
Several privacy laws require a Data Protection Officer in defined situations: GDPR when core activities involve large-scale monitoring or special-category data; PDPA in every organisation; DPDP for Significant Data Fiduciaries. The DPO reports to top management, must be given adequate resources, and cannot be penalised for performing their duties.
